“Civil service, A promising Career for Young Graduates” BY NANDINI R NAIR IRS
Department of economics, Sacred Heart College conducted a talk on “CIVIL SERVICE, A PROMOSING CAREER FOR YOUNG GRADUATES” on 17th of October 2020 through online platform. The resource person was Nandini R Nair, IRS, who is currently the Deputy Commissioner, Income tax, Chennai. The program was coordinated by the head of the department of economics Dr. Madhusudhan Nair M S. Fr. Principal Prashanth Palakkapallil started the session with an inaugural address. A proud alumna of our department, Nandini IRS started her talk by sharing her memories of sacred heart college and her beloved teachers. Her exemplary skill in oratory, captivate the students and she asserted the students to dream high. She explained that a career in civil service gives the opportunity to participate in governance and making important policy decisions for the country. Her talk gives a clear understanding of how one should plan their preparation for clearing a three-tier examination like Civil service. She concluded her talk by saying “perseverance is the sin qua non in clearing Civil service, which is considered as India’s toughest and probably most sought- after exam”. After her talk, there was an interactive session for half an hour. Students came up with queries and she clarify all the doubts with immense precision. She offers further assistance to the students in future also to clear the examination. The session wind up with a vote of thanks delivered by Ann Lopus, Student’s representative.
